The reality of diver training has changed dramatically in the last ten years. The standard route to qualified diver was within club training. The result was always good but often slow, being dependant on many people giving their time, and the weather for training dives. Lifestyles today have less time and cheap flights are now available to previously exotic locations.
Our experience is that people who seriously want to dive with us in the UK, (and beyond) will already have a dive qualification and some prior experience. We will recognise a PADI or similar qualification as a BSAC equivalent without any requirement for further training, subject to a satisfactory check dive with the club. UK diving offers many interesting sites, but these tend to be deeper than than the 20 metre limit needed for initial training.
Our approach is to focus on training to develop skills and safety in the club, so we do not offer "learn to dive" basic training but welcome divers with both BSAC and PADI qualifications interested in diving and improving their levels of diving skills. In addition we run Boat handling courses on our own RIB and sponsor members to attend BSAC Instructor Training Courses.
For prospective divers, we recommend that you contact BSAC for basic training and will welcome you to join us in the future.
